Build a class profitability calculator for Ironworks Fitness, a group training gym in Austin, used by the owner to decide which class formats keep their slot on next month's schedule. Layout. The top is a two pane calculator. The left pane is a form: pick an existing class format from a dropdown or start blank, then edit instructor pay per session, room cost per session, drop-in price, average revenue per member visit, room capacity, and average attendance. The right pane updates live: a large breakeven headcount number, margin per session at average attendance, margin at full capacity, and a small two bar revenue versus cost comparison, with margins green when positive and red when negative. Under the calculator sits a comparison table of all 12 formats: format name, sessions per week, instructor pay, room cost, breakeven headcount, average attendance over the last eight weeks, margin per session, estimated monthly margin, and a verdict badge (green keeper, amber watch when average attendance is within one person of breakeven, red cut candidate when attendance sits below breakeven). Below the table, a paired bar chart compares breakeven headcount against average attendance for every format. Selecting a format in the table loads it into the calculator and shows a small eight week attendance line under the results. Data. Seed 12 formats with realistic economics: HIIT 45, Spin, Power Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Boxing Fundamentals, Mobility Hour, Strength 101, Barre, Bootcamp, Kettlebell Club, Prenatal Yoga, and Open Turf Conditioning. Instructor pay runs 35 to 90 dollars, room cost 15 to 40, drop-in price 18 to 30, average revenue per member visit 9 to 14, and capacity 12 to 30. Seed one attendance record per format per week for the last eight weeks (96 records) with attendance and revenue. Plant the story: Aerial Yoga averages 5.8 attendees against a breakeven of 9 and loses about 35 dollars per session, Bootcamp packs 24 of 26 spots with the best monthly margin, and Barre hovers exactly at breakeven. Behavior. Breakeven is total session cost (instructor pay plus room cost) divided by average revenue per member visit, rounded up; drop-in price displays for context and stays out of the math. Margin per session is attendance times average revenue per member visit minus total session cost. Edits recompute results instantly before saving, and saving a new or edited format updates the table and chart. Visual identity. Use a burnt orange accent for primary actions, the breakeven number, and chart emphasis on a clean light neutral base, energetic but not loud.
