Build an estimate calculator and register for Redline Auto Repair, a four bay independent shop in Tulsa that wants consistent pricing on parts and labor. Layout. Two tabs. Tab one, Build Estimate, is a working calculator: the left pane is a line item builder where you add labor lines (description plus hours, priced at the shop labor rate) and parts lines picked from a searchable catalog dropdown that shows each part's cost and its computed sale price from the markup matrix. The right pane is a sticky summary card that updates live: labor total, parts total, shop supplies (6% of labor, capped at $40), tax at 8.5%, and the grand total in large type. Above the builder sits a collapsible settings card holding the labor rate ($135 per hour) and the four tier markup matrix: parts costing under $25 get 100% markup, $25 to $100 get 65%, $100 to $300 get 45%, and over $300 get 30%. Editing the rate or any tier recalculates every number on screen. A Save Estimate button captures customer name, vehicle, job description, and a starting status of Pending. Tab two, Register, opens with three stat cards: Approval Rate (68%), Average Repair Order ($842), and Approved Value Last 90 Days ($14,600). Below them a sortable table lists saved estimates with date, customer, vehicle, job, total, and a status badge: green Approved, red Declined, amber Pending, with a status filter and default sort by date, newest first. Beside the table place a bar chart of approval rate by estimate size bucket: under $500, $500 to $1,000, $1,000 to $2,000, and over $2,000. Data. Seed a 40 part catalog with realistic costs: brake pads $38, rotors $62, serpentine belts $19, alternators $189, water pumps $84, timing belt kits $210, and similar. Seed 25 estimates from the last 90 days for jobs like front brakes, alternator replacement, timing belts, AC repair, and struts, with totals from $180 to $2,900. Plant the story: estimates under $500 were approved about 90% of the time, but estimates over $2,000 were approved only about 25% of the time, so the size bucket chart shows a steep cliff. Behavior. Every total is computed from the lines, the rate, and the matrix, never typed. Status changes happen from the register row. The register and charts must look complete without any interaction, since public visitors are read only. Visual identity. Use a warm amber accent for primary actions, totals emphasis, and active states on a clean light neutral base, with a confident service counter feel.
