About this template

Every active job broken down by cost code, with budget, committed, actual, and projected final side by side. Import your weekly job cost export from accounting and every view updates, with variance charts flagging the divisions that are bleeding and drill-downs from company-wide WIP into a single job's labor and material lines. Built for contractors who find out a job lost money three weeks after the punch list.

The live demo ships with sample data: Eight active jobs for a mid-size general contractor, each budgeted across 14 CSI-style cost codes, with three months of weekly labor, material, and subcontract cost entries and committed PO values.

The prompt behind this template

This is the exact description the Prized agent built it from. Yours can be one sentence: the agent fills in the rest, and you refine from there.

Build a job costing dashboard for Stonebridge Builders, a mid size general contractor running eight active jobs, used by the controller and project managers to catch overruns by cost code before closeout does. Three regions. Top: four stat cards reading Active Jobs at 8, Total Contract Value at $18.4M, Actual Cost to Date at $9.6M, and Projected Margin at 6.5 percent shown red against an 8.5 percent bid margin, beside a stacked bar chart of the last 12 weeks of company spend split into labor, material, and subcontract. Middle: the jobs table with columns for job name, project manager, contract value, budget, committed, actual to date, projected final, and a variance pill: green when projected under budget, amber within 2 percent over, red beyond that. Sort by variance percent descending so the worst job tops the list. Bottom: a drill down panel for the selected job, defaulting to the worst one, with a cost code table of 14 CSI style lines running from 01 General Conditions through 26 Electrical, each with budget, committed, actual, projected final, variance, and a slim percent complete bar, plus a horizontal bar chart of variance dollars by cost code with overruns in red. Seed eight jobs with names like Lakeside Medical Office TI, Cedar Ridge Apartments Phase 2, and Fire Station 4 Renovation, contract values from $850,000 to $4.5M, and a rotating cast of four project managers. Give every job 14 cost code lines carrying budget, committed, actual, and projected values that sum sensibly to the job totals, and seed 12 weekly company spend rows for the stacked chart covering the last three months. Plant the insight: Lakeside Medical Office TI, the largest job at $4.5M, projects 9 percent over budget, driven almost entirely by 03 Concrete and 09 Finishes labor, while the other seven jobs sit within a point of plan, so the weekly spend chart looks calm and the red margin card traces back to a single job once the drill down opens. Behavior: variance, projected margin, and every rollup are computed; budgets, committed values, and cost entries are entered. An Add Cost Entry button opens a dialog capturing job, cost code, amount, and a labor, material, or subcontract category, and actuals update immediately. Selecting any job row swaps the drill down panel. The dashboard must expose the Lakeside problem from seeded data with nothing clicked. Use an indigo accent for primary actions, chart emphasis, and selected rows on a clean light neutral base, with the sober feel of a Friday afternoon cost review.

How templates work

  1. 1. Open the live demo. It is a real tool, not a mockup.
  2. 2. Use this template to get your own editable copy.
  3. 3. Prompt changes in plain language until it fits.
  4. 4. Connect your data and share it with the team.
